Introductory Physical Science (IPS)
9th Edition

The 9th edition of Introductory Physical Science scaffolds the development of science reading and writing skills. In addition to the formative assessment feature begun in the 8th edition, Comprehension Guide Questions now allow students to self-assess their comprehension of what they read. When these features are added to the content and pedagogy provided by IPS, it is not hard to see why this program is unique. No other physical science program has been able to duplicate the experiment-based, developmental approach taken by IPS.
Changes in the 9th Edition include a completely reworked chapter on the periodic table, a chapter on molecular motion, and an alternative branch dealing with energy, forces, and Newton’s laws of motion. Together with the material that has provided the core of the IPS program, these changes allow teachers more flexibility in meeting the needs of students and satisfying state science education standards, while maintaining the high-quality instructional program that they have come to expect from IPS.
A Teacher’s Guide and Resource Book is currently available.
An Assessment Package CD-ROM that provides five (re-ordered) versions of each Chapter Test is also available.
