National Summer Workshop Golden, Colorado The IPS Summer Workshop will be offered at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado, July 8-20, 2007. Instruction at the workshop is hands-on, in sections up to 22 participants. Check-in for the workshop is on Sunday afternoon, July 8 and the workshop will run until the end of the day on Friday, July 20. Travel arrangements should be made with this schedule in mind. Instruction will take place primarily in the laboratory and focus on the experiments and pre- and post-lab discussions. Participants are encouraged to prepare questions that address content (text and problems) and methodology. The hands-on activities also include the use of the Teacher’s Guide and Resource Book, the Assessment Package, and the Diagnostic Analysis software. Instructors and authors will be available on some evenings for individual assistance. Dr. H. Graden Kirksey, a co-author of the Eighth Edition, will lead the workshop and will be joined by Uri Haber-Schaim and experienced IPS classroom teachers. The
Colorado School of Mines is located in picturesque Golden, just 20
minutes west of Denver, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Participants
stay on campus in Weaver Towers, which offers air-conditioned, suite-style
dormitory accommodations. Workshop classes are held in the school’s
modern, air-conditioned Chemistry Building. The setting is informal
and campus recreational facilities are available for use by all participants.
