Constructing Meaningful Test Questions and Tests for Science Courses

Next summer, we will once again offer a one-week workshop on constructing meaningful test questions and tests for both formative and summative purposes. The workshop will be held at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, July 27-31, 2009. The course operates in a collaborative environment with participants constructing and critiquing test questions in both essay and multiple-choice format. Participants will also learn how to use inexpensive Diagnostic Analysis software to analyze the latter.

Bob Stair will lead the workshop.

The Colorado School of Mines is located in picturesque Golden, just 20 minutes west of Denver, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Participants stay on campus in Weaver Towers, which offers air-conditioned, suite-style dormitory accommodations. Workshop classes are held on the CSM campus. The setting is informal and campus recreational facilities are available for use by all participants.
